My expedition is filling up with gas fumes
I need your help. I have posted this question in the tech area as well I apologize if your reading this twice.
I filled up my 2003 expedition w. 5.4 with fuel and now my vehicle inside and out smells like gas fumes. I have had to repair facilities look at it and they can smell the gas but they cannot find any leaks. Does anybody know what might be causing this problem. I am at 3/4 tank of fuel now and the engine is runnning smooth, no check engine light. I am at a loss. Someone suggested that maybe a gasket in the top of the fuel tank may have failed and is allowing fumes to escape does this seem probable? Thanks in advance for your help.

Had the truck up on a rack a two different shops yesterday, and they couldnt find a leak. My wife however spent the day riding around with me and she saw at one of our stops a small puddle under the truck. Turns out is was fuel and it was coming from the fuel line that runs along the frame on the passenger side of the truck. Its right next to the cat. converter. Anyone have any idea what the part number might be for this I stopped at a ford garage and they couldnt figure out what part it was, they said this type of thing never happens. Just what I wanted to hear.
There is some foam around the fuel line where the break is, I was thinking as a temp fix I might be able to peel that foam back and seal it with JB weld or something similiar until I find a shop and get the part ordered. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks again to everyone on this forum this is no less than the fourth repair problem that I have help in diag. and getting repaired.
