Anyone know a stock 7.3 normal engine oil temp?

I'm interested in knowing the stock configuration normal engine oil temperature. I'm having an oil temp gauge installed tomorrow. Problem is, I've modded the truck already and want to compare stock vs my set-up with a 203 degree thermostat and other add-ons. Thanks, Les!

Normal oil temp will probably be 200* with a stock thermostat, and probably closer to 205-210 with your thermostat.

Full temp interstate non-towing in my truck is 186 via a Scan Gauge.

EOT is around 180ish taken at the HPOP resevoir. I have had my ECT get up to 215, and my EOT will stay between 180 and 190. Now the main thing is it takes a long time for the oil to come up to temp. the colder your climate the longer it will take. Here in Alabama with our mild winter it will take about 10 to 15 miles of normal driving to get my oil temp up to normal operating temp. I have never seen above 190 for my oil temp.

Thanks guys! I expected to see some different numbers (but fairly close to each other) due to driving conditions and personal driving habits. Your posts are very helpful! I'll post back once I get my new Cobalt EOT gauge in. V/r Les

Slightly off-topic but where's the ideal spot to plumb a temp sensor for oil temps?

I prefer the hottest temps, down by the filter, just before it goes to the cooler...

Joe, I misspelled your forum name in a previous post and can't edit it now, I'm sorry.

Les,

Running a 203* stat I see 197 at the HPOP driving around town, 210 unloaded at 75 mph, as high as 220 in the summer lightly loaded at 75 mph. Like Brandon said 10-15 miles to get to temp, although the idiot gauge indicates "at temp" at around 145.

So, I'm not near my truck at the moment but is there a pipe plug near the filter and/or cooler to install the sensor?

I agree, I'd want to know the hottest temperature point the oil is at.

I am usually seeing 200-240, never over 250 on my Banks dyanafact gauge.
What may be my high engine oil temp?
running Shell Rotella T synthetic
sender at filter location.
I am thinking about installing a sender at the HPOP and doing a toggle switch.
