Voltage drop on GPR

The voltage drop across my GPR is around 2 volts. I read that it should only be .5 volts. Does this mean my relay is bad? I am having hard start issues when cold. Thanks!

Here is what I found:
GPR that has been recomended is the STANCOR #802-586-902 cost around $43.00. You might want to Google Stancor or Mouser Electronics.

The current rating on this relay is high and should last you a long time. When mine starts going bad, this is the one I'll put on.

I just replace all 8 GPs so I know I will need a good GPR.

yes that is too much voltage drop. Probably the contacts getting burned. The stancor relay is a great unit! it will outlast the stocker and cost less. Check into the 903 as well. The 902 is for 12 volts and the 903 is for 15 volts which is closer the running voltage of our trucks even though the relay will rarely operate at more than 12 volts.

Tj

No need for the 903 unless it has a dual alt system. The 902 is protected from the gp system being active. The charging system cannot raise the voltage high enough
with gp load. (single alt)

Have used the high end 686-901 relay. 240.00
Its what they wanted. It has copper contacts vs silver, completely
sealed, and relay load is around 1.7 watts vs 8 watts. Has higher working temp.
Its over kill along with over priced!

Yeah I thought about that on the voltage but the 15 volt unit is the same price. Can't hurt. Plus I like it that I can pull my GP relay and use as a snow plow relay if I get in a pinch.

Agree on the 15v if used for the plow.
Do you know the CA rating on the 902 at 12vdc?
Never could find a spec at 12vdc. Stancor test IIRC is at 240ac?

No I don't know the specs on that.
