Is a salvaged title all that bad??

I've been looking for an early model bronco, 66-74, and have come across that have had salvaged titles. One had rolled and been salvaged by insurance, another had been stolen, stripped, and rebuilt by a new buyer. If the vehicle really has nothing wrong with it, will it be worth a lot less to buy/sell? Should I stay away from buying one with a salvaged title?

It definatly could affect resale value. I'm carefull about getting clear titles, but I plan to resell them. On a vehicle I plan on keeping, as long as I can title and tag, I don't worry about it. It's a good thing to negotiate price accordingly.

Buying to drive it?

-Stolen and stripped--worth considering.

-Rolled? Did they miss something when they patched it up?

As to buying and reselling, the salvage title will hinder your sales efforts every time. You seem to be an informed buyer and YOU are thinking twice about it.....

As others have said, keeping it or reselling? I have never bought a vehicle with a salvaged title that I had planned on selling. I've bought vehicles with salvaged titles and no titles...but have parted them out. The only exception was a mustang I just sold, it didn't have a title, the guy wanted it to make a race car. Just my 2 cents worth...good luck

insurance companies do not give full coverage, if it is in an accident or stolen

Salvaged title is only a bad thing if you plan to resale. Other then that you can fix most anything you might find wrong with a EB. As for insurance if you are really worried about it you can have a a insurance appraiser look at it then they will insure it for what he says its worth. The are usually pretty good at getting the price high enough to make you happy. lol

I have had two salvage titles in the past and currently own a Bronco that I salvaged. It is not bad however some might question it when you sell it. I have full coverage insurance on mine and I determined the value of it to the insurance company just as if It was a collectors item or a kit car. I have found it a lot cheaper to buy my vehicle in parts at the salvage yard than buying a vehicle that someone already put together.
