300 swap, found out i need some things

after 3 hours the engine is almost ready to be pulled out, just need to undo the exaust...should be fun i always love exaust work lol
anyways, once i got the truck up in the air i found some naaaaasty rot happening, looks like im going to need a rad support in the future, as well as a front bumper. granted i knew about the bumper, holes big enough to put your foot into lol.

That stupid exhaust it was a big ole pain to put motor mounts in. Good luck with it. Did you pull the core suport out? easiest way to get that beast out unless you have a big hoist.

Hey Gramps, your swap is easy compared too mine . I'm have taken the 300 out of my brother in laws 89 f150 and installing it into a 95 f150 that had a 351W. All of the wiring from inside and engine compartment has too be changed also. I hate wiring

should have been easy, while getting the new engine prepped to go in and found the throttle body was broken, aluminum pieces down the throat of the throttle, wasnt too happy about that, got a new gasket to swap that out then found the ears on the lower intake that attaches to the block are all cracked badly, also the fuel rail where the lines attach was bent....reeeeeeeally not happy especially when its after the parts stores closed. i do believe the yard i got the motor from will be hearing from me on monday, the dummy that pulled the motor didnt rotate it slightly to get it out, just tried to go straight up and bashed everything till it came out...thats what i think.

but a carb on it my 85 had an eec but does nothing to control the motor, only emissions. there are about 7 wires in my engine bay(counting the 6 plug wires )

Your lucky. If this truck was mine, I would have found another Windsor to go back in the 95. I found him a good one for $400, but he said,ah comeon we can get it,but i'm the one thats doing all the work

putting a 300 in the place of a 351 isn't that hard.......... as long as it's carbed.

got it all done now, new engine runs great, what started out as a quick and straight swap turned into half a rebuild lol, new intake gaskets(because of broken intake flanges) new valve cover because i had the upper intake off and it just made sense to stop the weeping of oil while its easy, new waterpump and thermostat, should be ready to roll for a loooong time!
