When my Dad passed 6 six years ago he had a 1973 169 cub cadet just like mine. My mom wanted to sell the tractor so I brought it to my house and decided to keep his since it had a newly rebuilt engine. swapped around parts to make one as nice as possible and then sold the other on ebay. That one sold for $900.00
Both were hydro 169's and when looking at the serial numbers it freeked me out. They were 9 numbers off in production, so they were built on the same day! Me and my Dad how crazy is that

I liked the cub cadets but not compared to the case 222s and 224s. With 12 h.p. and around 800 lbs --they are serious tractors.
These iron tractors last a lifetime and then some. I love hydodrive and lift. I will do some work on my 222 today, infact and some hydraulic line is leaking.
I have a 2006 craftsman 18 hp in Florida also....and it is a good mower....but that is it.
Any old iron tractors are good finds if the price is right. When I get done with this 8 hp simplicity 1960s model.....it will be nearly mint. Just for looks....unless Dad wants to use it. Glad Dad is so close and we get along so good. We still talk shop and he will always be the ''BOSS'' and ok with me!!

Met up with SLAPPY'SDUMP the other day,at his shop, and he has quite a collection. A nice 74 nova, and a 53 ford panel truck that looks like it came out of the 60s.
Another good dude and wow his big f450 dump truck with plow is huge....and we talked shop for a while and hope to cruise this summer in the 53s.
FTE GUYS AND GALS ARE THE BEST!!!

Thanks for the kind words Bill, it was nice to meet you. I am glad that it's starting to warm up here in the NE corner of the state--50 is way better than 5. I was out doing some clean up/raking in the yard the other day--sure beats pushing snow. Hey Rich thats a good idea--maybe the Southern states should start paying us crazy half frozen Northerners to stay up here instead of moving South--but then who would live in Florida?? Oh BTW the Nova is a 72, and the plow truck is a F-350.
