when i replaced the heater core on my 99 i used a hacksaw and cut the heater core lines inside the heater box then pulled the lines towards the engine and through the firewall then you will find that the hoses are a quick disconnect you have to squeeze the plastic ends on the hoses and twist the hose and pull then they will come apart good luck

If you take an air nozel to blow as much crap out of the way as you can, then soak them with WD-40 or PB blaster to lube them up they should come. Push in on them as much as you can before trying to press the plastic tabs in to release them. Dont forget about a sawall with a hack saw blade though, but that gets kinda messy.
