What is the line to cross that voids the warranty?

If i change out the air filter to a banks RAM Air will that void the warranty??

If i put a banks exhaust system on will that void the warranty??

I would speak with the local dealer and get there input. I would think that the air filter and exhaust would be ok as long as you don't touch the emissions stuff like the DPF. But to be sure I would speak with them.

there have been many similar discussions and feedback on this topic. general consensus seems to be that you have to be very careful in this area due to all the DPF and emissions related equipment. I would check with your local dealer also. I bit the bullet and purchased the extended warranty with my f250. So far, I am very pleased with the truck!

I purchased the xtended warranty also. I get 200,000 miles to blow it up.

I asked my dealer's service manager's point blank, What can I do to my truck to get better performance/fuel mileage?

They both looked at me and said "absolutely nothing can be modified to the engine and it's components".

I asked about the chip, engine programmers, exhaust systems and they just said no. The only thing they told me to do is I can add cetane boost to the fuel and I can put that Z-Max stuff in the oil. That's it.

Just for your information, this is my experience.

Ford has really cracked down and is adopting a no tolerance policy. Its subjective to the dealer you go to and the type of problems you have. Some dealers will overlook a programmer while others will refuse work because of bigger tires. The ultimate factor is whether Ford will pay them for the repairs. For instance, Dealer X has no issue with your programmer when your power window motor fails. Maybe even ok with it if you lose an injector. But one day the engine blows. If dealer X sends your old engine back to Ford (as they are required to do) and they see the marks on the pistons proving you had non-oem tuning, then Ford doesnt pay dealer X for the repair.

I think that pretty much it in a nut shell. It's all about what the dealer feels comfortable with. Mine said they will say nothing unless asked by Ford. I would take it to the dealer and be up front with them and see what they say. Good luck
