Craigs List Find
I was searching Craigs List in the Portland Oregon area last night and came across this find below. It is a 1977 F-150 4x4 with a 400 and C6 transmission. I went to check it out today and needless to say it followed me home. It really is a pretty decent truck for $500.00 bucks.
The 400 needs some attention but the previous owner installed new dual exhaust. Unfortenitly since I live in the Portland area where they smog check things, I have to leave everything pretty much stock if I want to license it and pass DEQ inspection. I have not had a chance to look into it very much, but the engine does smoke and I can see a rebuild in the near future to freshen it up.

I am not griping at all about an engine rebuild, I was just stating what currently needs to be adressed. When I saw how clean it was I jumped all over it and now it is in my driveway waiting for me to work on it. I am really excited to have found it for as cheap as I did and as nice of shape as it is in!

I am a C/L junkie and am on there daily looking at what is out around the area I live in. Lately there has been a lot of stuff on there, some is good but over priced IMHO and other stuff is junk and some stuff is pretty decent at a fair price. This is my second 70's Ford pickup I have gotten off of C/L for 500 bucks in the last year or so, but this is by far the best thing I have purchased off of there. There has been a lot of Bronco's too lately and of course there are other makes if that is what one is after.
I would like to think it is a sign of how well Ford trucks are built, but I have looked at a lot of 4x4's from the 60's and 70's on C/L from International, Ford and Dodge and the IH's and Dodges have all been junk, but the Ford's have been pretty good. There could be a lot of other factors that play into that, but the fact remains Ford builds the best pickup, period!

I too am a C/L junkie and I am on there everyday as well looking for that ever illusive deal that you just can't pass up, but the old fords just don't seem to be out there, they're all rotted and with the big boom in scrap prices a lot of them have went away to the crusher, I am going to look at a 74 F100 4x4 for $1000 that is supposed to be in decent shape? we will see, any ways, great find

how about one to get you started. I was going to buy it for the bumper and part it to make my $$ back - but I don't have the time or space right now...
