Coast to Coast cruise-interested?

If you want suggestions for a show to attend I highly recommend the Dash to the Dells, its held in mid September. It might be a bit out of the way, central Wisconsin, you would have a place for the guys in the northern half of the country meet. You would be able to have a place for the northern Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota and Northern Michigan members to meet. Easy interstate access, a resort area with a lot of motels and other attractions.

I am pretty enthused with the idea, but if I could make a suggestion:
What about regional meets first?
It sounds like we're all somewhat clustered, so why don't we work on getting a couple smaller get-togethers going, and work up to a National meet and cross-country run?
Another point that occurs to me is that with regional meets, we could probably do our own version of the 'test and tune' days that the performance car crowds tend to run... except ours would be more of a 'troubleshoot and fix' day I'm not suggesting completing engine swaps in a fairground (but I would be game!), but smaller things like getting older engines tuned up right or fixing wiring gremlins. We've got quite a few members here who have developed good skills over the years, but I'd wager I'm not the only one who's better in some areas than others (ie, I'm much better at esoteric repairs like rebuilding engines and turbochargers than I am at more normal things, like brakes).

Y'know - maybe you guys should work up a map plot of where everyone is that is SINCERELY interested in the idea, and map out cruise routes that may or may not be national or "whole state" cruise routes.
Route 66, the pacific Coast Highway, stretches of Interstate 40, and so on.
You might not be able to do a nationwide run right off the bat - but enough runs with enough people by region might be one hell of an eye-opener...
I would also like to propose that you try the following:
Start a new "SOCIAL GROUP" now that we have that option titled "COAST to Coast Cruise 2009" now that the new forum software makes that possible, in other words: Run it up the flagpole sitewide, and see who salutes it!!!
