hi
I have a 1986 f-150 XL 4x4. It has the stock rims 15x7?(the ones with the hub caps)it has 235/75r15 tires. Can I put any bigger tires on them without buying new rims. Thanks
Chris
First you will need to verify the factory rim width! On my 88 F150,the door jamb sticker clearly gives the original tire size(P235-75R15XL) as well as the rim size(15 x 6.0).Double check the sticker for the rim width! If in fact you do have the 6.0" wide rims, the only 'bigger' tire recommended is the 30-9.50R15 which is just a 1/2" taller & wider. You will need at least a 7.0" rim to go with the popular 31 -10.50R15's. These recomendations are available in the size charts of all tire manufacturers web sites as well as tirerack.com & discounttiredirect.com
