Cool 08 Tire Pressure Light Ticks Me Off!

I hate the TPMS! I have not only the light but also the message center notification. My research indicates that the putting-all-the-sensors-in-the-spare trick does not work. I tried using the remote fob to retrain all tires to a lower pressure which also does not work. Has anyone figured out how to defeat this annoying feature yet? Are there any electronic programmers or tuners out there that have that capability?

I run 80 psi in my 08 king ranch and never have any trouble nor even knew is had a tpms. Run what ford recomends and u should have no problems unless a sensor is bad. U can't outsmart the trucks computer most of the time. Run cheap D or C load range and low preasure and the truck will let u know. Want to run 50 or 65 psi i think ford has a f150 or ranger for them there low presures.

For me, 80 psi, or even the 65 psi it takes to keep my TPMS light off, is too stiff for my liking. Even on my stock Contis, the rear tires were not even flat on the ground at 65 psi. FYI: My tires are E load range BFG and were not cheap. If you run 80 psi with no load, you are going to prematurely wear the center of your rear tires. I have seen it done.

I have yet to have issues with my 08 F-350. Where I have issues, is my 03 explorer was rather sensative, but it was doing it's job. I had a slow leak. If you are within the allotted parameters, and you have used your remote, you may have a bad sensor as the guy above said

I have a 05 f350 with the contis and i run about 65 t0 70 psi and they show no abnormal tire wear with 30000 plus miles on the clock. They set flat on the road and hook up real good on pavement. Not much good in mud but alright in snow. On my 08 f350 i have goodyear wranglers and i have run anywhere from 50 to 85 psi and they always set flat on road and never on either truck have i seen the tpms lite so everything must be alright with the gods and all the stars must be allined or something. U must trust in your DICS and god because what else is there, Oh nobama i guess. Now that there is funny i don't care who u are.

My 08 F-250 does not have TPMS thank god! My Fusion does however and my thanks to a piece of metal in the road it cost me $600 for the tire, wheel and TPMS sensor.

The only way to disable the TPMS is to reprogram your truck. There are instructions on how to do it, but it is against the law in the U.S. So it may be difficult to find someone who will do it for you. Also if anything goes wrong during the programing you can end up with a dead truck.

Talking

A reprogram would be like any mod that messes with emission controls, such as a DPF delete. Companies can sell it legally, and you can use it legally. They just have to provide that magical disclaimer, "For off-road purposes only."

Have you checked your tires to see if they have the proper air pressure? Cold weather can reduce your air pressure quite a bit, which will trigger the alarm.

That isn't his problem. It is the fact you cannot run the tires at a low enough pressure to get proper treadwear and traction with out tripping the TPMS. It is set at too high a pressure for most users. I like to run my rears at 48 to 50 psi when empty and I cannot do that as the TPMS is set to trip just a little below 65 psi.

If the TPMS is a programable parameter you could probably have any dealer turn it off...for the hour minimum, of course.
