bleeding abs system

I want to bleed the old fluid from my brake lines on my 1994 E-350 and need to know is there any differance bleeding ABS system from the old style systems. tks Terry

It's the same. Just be sure no crud from the master cylinder goes into the pump.

Not completely the same. You can bleed your brakes in the same way you would on a non-ABS system and it will work fine, but it sounds like you're wanting to flush all of the old brake fluid out? If so, and you want to do the entire system, you can either get an ABS bleeding tool from Thexton (a royal pain and not worth it in my opinion), or you can bleed them normally and drive on a loose surface (gravel road, etc). Slam the brakes a few times, activating the ABS, and this will get the old fluid out of the pump. You'll then need to bleed them normally once more to get the old fluid you just got out of the pump out of the lines.

Personally, and this is just my opinion, I've never had an issue just bleeding them normally and ignoring the ABS system.

I plan to use a hand held vacum pump to do it with and I didnt know if this would harm the ABS in any way. Tks for the come back Terry

Vacuum pump will work just fine, good luck with it!

Thats how I did mine last summer when I rebuilt 90 percent of the brake system on my truck. It works just fine.

I thought these trucks did not have a abs pump, just a valve that would relieve pressure.

these trucks do not have abs, they have rabs.

only the bronco has abs.

no abs pump on f series trucks.
