2008 Ranger 4.0 clunking noise in rear end at stop??
After I stop at lights I get a clunk noise in the rear end and sometimes the truck wants to lurch forward....I checked the TSB and there is something for auto transmission but I am not sure if this is what its for??
any help would be great....I love my truck but why am I having problems now after 5,000 km?
cheers

What happens is the slip yoke on the driveshaft is binding.
If you look at the driveshaft you will see a rubber boot that has two clamps, remove the clamps and slide the boot down, now just grease the splines really good with wheel bearing grease. You'll probably never get the clamps to work again so just use some zip ties and your done, no more annoying clunk.

Seeing as how this is an 08 Model & likely still under a bumper-to bumper warranty you paid BIG bucks for, no need to crawl under there & get your hands dirty, take it back to your Dealer & make it his & Fords problem,
Have their drive line Tech drive it & be sure to go along on the test drive, so your all singing from the same hymnal on the problem.
As offrdrnger has suggested, if you have a two piece drive shaft, it may just be it needing a lube job & Ford has a special PTFE loaded lube specified on a TSB to do this, so they know about this kind of problem, IF this is your problem, it might not be, so have a pro that knows your vehicle, check it out pronto!!!!
More thoughts for pondering.
