I'm holding out for 2010. For the most part, the rest of this truck impresses me except the engine. 15 more ft/lbs than my 2000.
I can't see this engine not selling considering the sales history of the biggest engines in any truck. For example, any diesel, the 5.4, Hemi 5.7, Toyota 5.7, etc. I'll bet that it would get about the same mileage as the "new" 5.4. Just look at the difference between the current 4.6 and 5.4.
I think they put them in the superduty, they have to recoup some of their design costs so they have to sell all they can. I would even be happy with a slighty detuned version in the F150. Ford, are you listening?
You will need to wait till 2011 for the 6.2L V-8, The Raptor will be available in the 5.4L the first year of production. The 6.2L is know as the "Hurricane" engine
I am willing to wait, I just wanna know that I am waiting gor a reason. I don't want to wait until 2011 just to see that it is only offered in the SuperDuty.
I would hope that they would make it an option in the F-150 on the XLT and above. I buy a truck for capability and power, not fuel economy that would be what a Focus is for.

Bah, you just wanna run 0-60 with all of them other halfton trucks, don'tcha!?!?!?!

I'll bet that a 6.2 F150 would get in the same ballpark as the 5.4 does.
Ya caught me!! But I just like power and love Ford trucks and hate seeing them so far behind in that department.
Agreed, but we've always been way behind in that department. I've always considered GM's 350 to be one of the best engines ever built. Ford floundered with the 5.0 and 5.8's for years. No power gas hogs. The Triton engines are awesome motors but then suddenly it seems that Ford fell asleep at the wheel again. Ford needs to get ahead of the ENGINE game and stay ahead.
