May be buying myself a project.

So I stopped at my grandparents new house this weekend. Pull up and there this ??(57-60) ish ford truck in the driveway. A truck I've seen a hundred times before sitting at their old place. Never once did I realize it was it was my grandpa's, it was sitting right at the property line and I always thought it was the neighbors truck. Dummy me.

Anyway.. I asked my grandpa "did you have to get that thing towed over here, i've never seen it move before"

He tells me "no, it runs great, i had to take it in and have the most of the brake system replaced, cost me $400 dollars." Then he says "not sure why i spent that much on it, it aint worth $400 to me"

Right away that hampster in my head takes off running. Of course they leave the area for the winter and are leaving in two days. But when they get back, i'm definatley considering seeing if he'll let that truck go.

Maybe it's wishful thinking, it's the only truck they have and he was talking about how it comes in handy sometimes. But i'd love to have that thing.

Why not just ask him when he's away?

Ask him now don't wait. He may want someone to fix it up. He did get rid of it for a reason, maybe he hoped you want it someday.

Really? I never considered them "orphans". granted, I've never tried to find parts for one, but the 57-60 seem to be somewhat popular.

I sure like them anyway. The '57's are one of my all time favorite Fords.

OH.... i just reread the original post I wrote last night, I kinda left out a part. I did say something to him about getting rid of the truck, and he said I might be able to convince him of it when they get back from florida.

So yeah... i gotta wait. And make sure i got the funds laying around at that time. I need to buy myself a car to drive back and forth to work, and my fiance a new car this spring.

So really, I first need to convince my fiance that I need this truck more than we need to save up for our wedding,(like thats gonna happen, although she said she did like the truck) THEN convince my grandpa to let it go.

popular, maybe yeah, but tell that to the aftermarket parts suppliers, lol.

I say ask now, and the worst he'll say, is no. But if he says no, odds are good, he intends to keep it, so you can ask again sometime down the line.
