I need some Header help.

I know I've read post about this before, but now that I've gotten to the point of Headers, I can't find the posts.

I've got a '56 with TCI IFS, manual rack, Ididit column, and a 302. Things look TIGHT, so I'm wondering what headers some of you have used in this configuration?
Thanks

I have a '50 with TCI IFS and a 351W. I used the Sanderson compact headers and they turned out great.

Oh how fun! Someone else who needs to run four 2-inch pipes through a 5 square inch hole.

I have a 51 which has a more narrow frame. I also have the stock steering box and front end in mine.

Unfortunately, I had my headers made before I decided to try the IFS. Also unfortunately because of the steering box and the closeness of the FE 390 to the frame, we had to go outside the frame with the headers. Worked fine until we went to weld the shock towers for the IFS and didn't have enough room.

On your 302 they make "hugger headers" that should fit down between your frame and engine and be far enough aft to clear your shock towers. If not, you will have to have a set made.

That's not tough, but expensive...Mine were $1700 (and that included the upper exhaust tubes in front of the lake pipes as well).

Silly question, did you use the search function here to find the posts? If not just go to the the index page and use the "Search THIS FORUM" and type in "headers."

But in the mean time here is a picture of my beautiful gold plated headers!

Good luck,
Julie

PS Full front tilt with no inner fenders.

Thanks for your help, the Sanderson's look very promising. Anyone out there have pics of the column/header area?
Thanks again
