transfer case and rear end fluid

I am doing all the fluids and wondering if I should change these.

Any tips (procedure, oil type, etc.) would be appreciated. It's a 98 Exp Eddie Bauer 4x4 with a 5.4

I would recomend changing those fluids. The axles front and rear I used M1 70-140 synthetic. In the rear if you have limited slip you will also need the friction modifier. I bought mine at the Ford dealer, its like 8 oz I think. In the transfer case most on here use the same as your transmition would use, but when I changed mine last the fluid in the tansfer case was burnt, or starting to smell bad any way so I went with M1 transmition fluid to give it a little extra protection.

Make sure to remove the fill / top plug first to make sure you can refill after draining. Use silicone for the axles instead of gaskets.
