Shimjocky and M350, are you talking about the thing basically right by the transfer case shift motor? It has 2 wires going to something on the transfer case? So you ground both wires on the harness side, correct? one jumper wire for each pin, or do you just do one, and if so which one? Also, which part do you replace? the part on the transfer case or the actual harness part?

we had some serious snow yesterday and it sucked drving with no 4x4 to put in. This electrical crap sucks badly. Specially being that it's my 4x4 high not working.

I am not sure about electronic shift on fly 4x4 but on manual shift the switch is on the drivers side of the transfer case facing the front of the truck.

You can take one wire bared on both ends and jump one side of the harness to the other after unplugging it from the switch. This will effectively eliminate the switch. If the plugin looks ok then it probably is and if the jumper wire works then just replace the switch. I think a 7/8 end wrench will do the trick to remove it. Do not drive the truck with that switch out as the t-case will be open to the outside.

Can someone with ESOF 4x4 confirm that you have this switch also?

I'll try to post a picture of the part I think is the switch what you are talking about. I wont ground it till I get confirm I'm looking at the right part. Last thing I need is to ground out something else and have to replace it. I sure hope to get this electrical gremlin fixed this week.

Thanks again

4X4 doesnt work

I worked on the same problem today with a friend of mines 2002 F150 4X4 with the manual shift transfer case (lever on the floor). I took your advice and replaced the switch on the transfer case. I used a 7/8 wrench to take it out. The local Ford dealer had one in stock. The part # 4L3Z-7E440-AB
I think the motorcraft number is SW-6251. It was about $40.00
I put the new switch in and the problem is solved, 4-wheel drive works perfectly now. Thanks.
