1952 F-7 "Big Job" rear axle hub seals

I'm helping my Dad find parts for his 1952 F-7 "Big Job" Fire Truck.
He was a volunteer for the Woodstock, Va Volunteer Fire Department
when it was bought new in 1952. He was the high bidder when they sold
it in the late 80's. Since then we have used it in various local parades,
and to deliver food baskets to the needy on Christmas Eve with the Rotary.
He had the body fully restored in time for Woodstock's 250 year Anniversary
in 2002.

We're having trouble locating the rear hub/drum seals, and axle seals.
The local parts stores (napa included), and some large truck shops
can't seem to find what we need.

If anyone knows where we can call to order these it would be greatly appreciated.
We've got the truck in our garage with the right rear wheel dissaembled,
and need to get it back together and back on the road.

Thanks,
David Grabill

Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you.

The best source I know of for big truck parts is Job Lot in New York. Their web site is JobLot Automotive. Stu

Beautiful truck! There are a number of fire trucks on here of your vintage, maybe we should have a "show us your fire engine" thread!

can you by any chance get the number off the old seal
does the axle seal you mention screw on outside the bearing nuts?

re: seal

after trying several local parts places, a guy in Bunker Hill, WV
showed me where the number WAS. We had assumed before this
that maybe it never had a number. It was defaced on install.

This seal presses into the inside of the hub/drum before it slides onto the axle housing.

That is one awesome truck!!!

I have a 54 F-750 fire truck that is in rip down for a re-do. Mine should look so good!

If you have the number of the seal and go to National seals ( i think), they may be able to cross it. Mine still had the ford number on it and crossed up preety well.

As you and your dad know, they really hump you for these old parts.

Good luck and thank your dad for serving
