15inch rims for my f-250??

I've got a 85 f-250 Ford and a set of 38.5x15x15 gumbo mudders. The question is has ayone put 15 inch rims on an f-250, that has 16inch rims now. I heard it was a problem. I know that the disc calipers are in the way. I want to know who if any has done this before and how hard it is. I have heard it can and has been done.
thanks

15inch rims for my f-250??

hi, a 15" wheel will fit a drum brake truck with the right back space, but i've heard of people putting them on disc braked trucks. by grinding the high spots of the casting of the calipers. but you also have to watch the steering arm coming of the knuckle. the only way to find out what wheel will work is to go to a local tire store and buy one wheel and test fit it on your truck and make sure to tighten the wheel snug to see if it hits up against something, and also spin the wheel. but don't screw up the wheel because the tire shop might not take it back, if it don't fit! I live near salem ore. and had a company in portland to make me a wheel with a 3.5 back space 15x14 for super swamper boggers 16x35x15 for my 71 f250 crew cab 4x4 they stick out but are cool!! the shop that made my wheels is called willamette wheel they only costed my about $$77. each for steel wheels and they do ship too. if you do order a set make sure of the back spacing you want. thanx tim christensen-fatboys motorsports club.

15inch rims for my f-250??

I've got a 2WD '72 F100 that I put "73 F250 axles under. In order to try and save some money I ordered a set of 15" wheels for a '73 F250, so I could use my nearly new 15" tires. They fit the rear drums just great, but when it came time to put them on the front calpers they wouldn't clear. I was able to return them as I ordered them to specifically fit the axles I had. After discovering they wouldn't fit I mounted my splits back on it and crawled under it to see how much clearance was between the inside of the rim and the caliper. I personally don't think you'll ever get a set to go without some serious machine work on the calipers.

Yes, you can make them fit. I did it on my 84 f-250 by grinding the calipers, and trimming the dust shield moderately.
