NIce work. I did mine about six months ago. $10 and a few hours, not a bad upgrade to me. I have pics in my gallery. Red fx4 with black lights looks sweet. not sure how to add pics to post, sorry.
If I understand correctly, you are using the oven to heat the lights up to 250 in order to melt the factory seal to get them apart? If thats the case I should be able to use a heat gun to go around and break the seal, yes/no?
Probably not, the heat gun doesn't get enough heat into the lights to make the glue pliable for very long. you also run the risk of over heating a localized spot.
thanks 98greensi...but not for me. I actually really like my OEM FX4's for now
Seriously????? i hate those wheels....i thought those were the worst wheels ford ever made.....LOL.....but i guess if you like em....more power to ya...
Nice lookin lights....i wonder how it would look if i got mine painted to match the white sand tri coat???
I haven't seen white heads done yet, but I have seen them done in Red...looked okay, but I prefer contrasting colors myself
btw, you should see my rims now. the stockers are starting to get eaten up from the salt air and sand...I've pretty much scrubbed my whitewall off...stupid 6,000 lb truck with skinny tires on sand
I cannot stress enough that people need to be patient and go slow...otherwise, have fun and we'll need pictures.
also, let the lights cure for at least 24 hours inside your house after you glue them back together. I bound mine up with string and just let 'em sit
Fortunately I have the time and patience, and being in kitchen and bath work, I know a little something about working with silicone and I already have everything on your list except for the paint. Btw, did you use a flat black paint and if so is there anything wrong with using a gloss black?
