What do I have here? F150 - 7700?
Just bought a 2000 F150. VIN Plate shows GVWR 7700, 7 Lug Rims, 5.4 V8 and going by the differential cover (Part #E5TZ-4033-A), a ford / sterling 10.25 differential, which from what I can find was only available on F250 & F350's. No manual and ford vin decoder was not any help. I heard that there was a badge on the rear, but there was no tailgate on mine so no help there.

That is the heavier version of the F150. It does have the larger drivetrain parts, but the suspension is still lighter (correct me if I'm wrong guys). Think of it as a "heavy half" Most of the 1/2 tons are 5 lug. <7700lbs. The main differerence for you is the parts stores need to know that for mainly drivetrain parts. I don't know if you have a different transmission or not.

I think it has the bigger 4r100 instead of the 4r70 transmission also.

It's also geared lower than your standard half tons between the gearing in the transmission and the axle anyway. But other than that the only differences that I know of are the suspension and driveline, all the body parts and interior parts are standard half ton components. It is still not as heavy as a 3/4 or 1 ton truck though. Something I've noticed with mine though is that most auto parts stores don't keep 7700 specific parts in stock and sometimes you have to special order them.

The 7700 has front/rear disc brakes bigger motors. The bigger 130 amp alt. Heavy duty radiator. 7 lug wheels. I think the frames heavier than standard 150s those are the main high points. Most do come with the bigger 4r100 tranny I have a 2000 f150 7700 had for 3 years now and I love it. Mine also has the 10.25 rearend. Hard to find the right parts I order for a 99 f250 light duty option or pick up option.. its hard to find wheels but I like mine already

just picked up a 2000 model F150 7700 4x4 in pretty good shape 177,000 miles it was an ex division of forestry vehicle. I bought it as an extra vehicle and my daughter has taken ownership of it for now. Finally drove it a little bit and even though I am a Chevy guy (who drives a Jeep) I really like it so far.

Welcome to the 7700 owners! Be kind and good to those 7 lug wheels, they are a rare bird now. Also the center caps are scarce, so if you've got em, make sure the clips (which snap onto the lug nuts) are all tight! Lost one on mine, only place for a new one was a Ford dealer.

driveline vibration and shudder solved, u joints were toast and I replaced them yesterday. The ball joints are shot as well and that's next on the list.
The whistling or noise I hear under the hood is a broken exhaust stub, the noise drives me nuts!
I also have a couple codes now, po171 and po174

If the VIN 4th digit is a P, it is an F150.7700, which is a GVWR of 7700 lbs. from 97-04, ford had two F250s, the older model and the new Super Duty. Some of the older models (what we recognize as the F150 body) were rebadged as the F150/7700, with an emblem saying so on the tailgate. It's not quite just a rebadged light duty F250, but it's close.
Although it is sometimes referred to as a HD F150, it is more accurate to see it as a rebadged light duty F250, since even the frame is is heavier than the F150.
The 04 was also called a Heritage, and may only have been available in Canada.
