My truck has done this since new (2008 f150, 5.4 4x4). when u are stopped on a hill in and u have it in drive and take ur foot off the brake it rolls backwards alot and doesnt seem to lockup at all, same as with a standard tranny. i have nvr had this with an automatic, usually u take ur foot off the brake it rolls back maybe a foot then locksup. just wondering if this is normal with these trucks or if i shld have it looked at.
thanks, Peter
i would bring it in and let them test it or better yet take the mechanic for a ride.. I had too do this for my tranny issue and the mechanic said "its not suppose to do that" long story short 3 dealer trips later Ford replaced my tranny free of charge.
I took It in today and they said that is normal with newer trucks so I guess I gotta live with it. Its just a bit of a **** off when ur tryin to slowly creep up a steep hill offroadin, its kinda like ur walkin backwards lol
The truck is only a couple of months old and has 20,000 Kilometers. That's 12,400 miles. That many miles/ kilometers is considered a year's worth of use by most people I know. But yes you need to get it to another dealer as it should not roll back like that normally.
Take it in!!!!!! My truck did that too and at 51k miles, the planetary gears shattered, cost my 2k to replace!!!!!! Now, my truck does NOT roll backwards on hills.
If I've shattered the planetary gears after 11,400kms....I'll be surprised.
But I'm taking my truck into the dealership anyways, so I'll mention the issue.
