Tranny Help

Sometimes when I turn my truck on and try to shift into reverse the tranny will not engage. The shift lever will easily move into the reverse position but it will not engage. Any ideas?

How old is the fluid, is the level good, and does it smell burnt? It doesnt do it when you put it in drive?

I'll check on the fluid and it only happens in reverse. All other gears engage fine.

Look at whatever the lever is on the transmission and see if something is coming loose. Reverse is the only gear in the 4R100 that is manually engaged. The 4 forward gears are electronically controlled.
