Engine mods for 88 F150 302
Hey all,
I have a 1988 F150 4x4 with a 302 and a C6. I used to have an 86 F150 2wd with a 302 and an AOD. The 86 302 had been converted back to carb by the PO, and had a bunch of performance stuff, like a Summit racing dist, roller rockers and performance cam, and mustang shorty headers. I pulled the 86 motor before scrapping the truck (due to significant frame rust issues), and subsequently bought my 88, which is in terrific shape. Now, I have some plans for the 88, including swapping the C6 for a ZF-5 in the future. I've tried to sell the 86 motor, but no luck (hard to sell a V8 with gas at $4+ a gallon, I guess).
Can I use some of the performance stuff I still have on the 86 carbed motor on my 88 EFI motor, without screwing anything up with the computer? The 86 motor is just hanging out in the garage, as I've had zero success trying to sell it. Any ideas?
Also, I've asked $350 for the 86 302 and AOD now. I started at $500, but had no bites, and it's just taking up valuable floor space right now. Am I asking too much if I were to sell it?
What do you guys think?

I am no expert but the distributor will probably work, I not sure about the roller rockers but I would guess that they would work too. The performance cam most likely will not work if it was put in for use with the carburetor, because the 88 302 has the SD system, unless it has been converted to MAF, and those systems are limited on cam choices unless you reprogram the computer. The shorty headers should work if they cleared everything in the last pickup, although didn't they change the frame a bit from 1986 to 1987??? Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
I am sure that someone much more knowledgeable than me will chime in some time. But this is just my .02 cents.

Cam from the carbed motor is no good, but that that doesn't mean you can't change the one in the '88, use the Comp 35-255-5, it's EFI safe. Roller rockers can be moved over as well as the headers.. though they are not that great if paired with the stock Y-pipe and cat. Distributor won't work with the EFI system either.
