1948 -52 Chassis Specifications / Drop Axle?
Hey folks,
Can anyone post an image of the Chassis Spec's for the 48 thru 52 F100? In addition I'm wondering what the front axle Spec's were and if there's anybody out there making a forged drop axle for this era truck?
I'm trying to compare them to 53-56 Specs. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nobody makes a one-piece forged I-beam axle for '48-'52 or '53-'56 Ford trucks. Because of the cost of the forging dies needed to produce them, it's unlikely that anyone ever will.
You can have yours dropped, though. Here's my site's page on dropped axles:

After you read that, if you have any questions, please phone me at (602) 233-8400. Thanks!

Thx Dave,
U'r axles look great! Once I make an axle selection, Ur my shop; and close, I'm in Tucson!
I'm trying to determine the difference in frame width and axle width, spring pearch to spring perch, between 48+ and 53-56 axles. I want to modify my 55, to narrow the distance between the front wheels, and tuck the wheels as tight inside the fenderwells as possible. I need to get the turning radius of the wheels tucked completely inside the fenderwell.
I intend to skirt my front wheelwells.
My initial inquirey was to determine whether the 48 thru 53 axle was narrower than the 53-56. I figured if it was narrower, I might be able to box the frame and mount the springs inside the rails to narrow the front end? I've also considered I might have to pinch the frame to narrow the steering geometry of my front straight axle.
I may be going about this the hard way, and you seem to be the man to educate me about axles, so I'd appreciate your thoughts about this. It may be my stock 53-56 front axle is suitable candidate for narrowing as you heat and re-position the spindle arms for a drop?
Thx, David

OldSchoolRodz,
Another source for dropped axles in Phoenix is Industrial Chassis. Steve and Adam have their own axle dropping tooling in their shop. They are experienced and also drop axles for other shops. You can contact them at:
Steve Syzmanski (El Polacko)
Industrial Chassis
3536 W. Osborn Rd.
Phoenix, AZ 85012
602-278-6800
I'd call Steve and Dave and get pricing from both of them. Also find out how long it would take to get the work completed. I'd bet Steve and Adam will have a shorter turn around time.
If you need an axle, I have a very good 48-52 axle I acquired when I bought my flathead V8 for another project. PM me and we can talk price. If you buy my axle I can drop it off at Industrial Chassis for you.
