I like yellow! Be careful of the diffeent ford yellows in recent years. 94 - 98 mustangs were called Chrome yellow, 99 - ? were called Zinc Yellow, and the Fords newest yellow is called Screaming yellow i think. all different shades.
I used color code BZ 94 - 98 Mustang
For everything not yellow i used John Deere medium gloss tractor enamel. good cheap stuff.

Its a Factory Five Cobra, they were the best value in a kit I found. I did everything but the paint, much, much easier than my darksider truck build. Its a fully cad designed jig welded frame with lasercut aluminum panels etc, very nice. I finished in about 6 months about 7 years ago.
It snuck in this truck picture, the cobra gets lots of attention on the road.

Gary, thats the same place i will be getting mine from. They are not far from me, i think its a 2 hour drive. I like what i have seen from them. I also talked to a guy here in town that has there 1st generation body. He told me not to look at the body for it was the first one. They have come a long way since. I want the same paint combo you have looks nice. What motor you running? Did you have any problems with DMV?Thanks!

I am running an explorer 5.0 with twin turbo coupe T3s. I wanted to keep the boost around 5 psi, but the built in turbo coupe gates can't keep up so it boosts 10-13 psi. Its a lot on the scary side
Each state is diffrent at the DMV best to talk to someone in your state.

Screaming yellow is the paint color for the late model F series, and that's what I'm using. I've noticed at local shows that the engine compartments that look the sharpest (imho) are the ones painted the vehicles color, instead of black. However, black parts against a yellow back ground look sharp. My firewall, innder fenders and such will be yellow, but the little detail pieces will be black.

Well well well, here I thought Yellow would be something different and unusual! Seems a lot of folks are painting their trucks yellow. I have only started so all I have done is the frame and motor all yellow and black. But I too will paint the cab and bed screaming yellow clear. Not sure yet on the firewall and inner fenders but I know the piece behind the grill will also be yellow cause the grill and bumper will be gloss black as will the running boards.

I see many of the old trucks painted yellow, I thought Corvette yellow was neat but it's not my truck. Speaking of paint, I like restoring vehicles to an original color. I've noticed it's getting harder and harder and more expensive to find a paint that can be mixed to original colors especially the pastels. The last paint shop said it's due to the pigments and here in California the restrictions are really getting tight. Has anyone else run into this problem?

Rodger, If your p;an is to get it on the road as fast as possiable for some seat time,Consider getting the Body metal as clean as you can ..using a DA/Orbital sander then sandblast the little stuff you can't get at, get as many dents straightened as you can , then spray a couple of coats of a good Epoxy-primer. Now your metal is at least protected while you work out other mechanical details, and you will be in a position for that seat-time.
I would do some research on the paint..if you find the color you want, use the same productline of paint thru-out the project, this will lessen in-compatiability issues down the road.
These new Epoxy- primers are very tough.
