can you guess what happened?

My '01 V10 with a 7 psi supercharger and over 115k miles on it never had it happen.
So is this the result of the infamous "spark plug blowout" that I've heard so much about?
Also, something looks seriously wrong with that spark plug.

was on my way up to the dunes for the holiday weekend that thursday night, 2:30 in the morning riding shotgun in my truck (you can figure that out), on the freeway at normal speed........ all the sudden BOOM, puff puff puff puff puff puff...... i had no idea what happened. got to the campground, went to sleep, woke up, and the first thought thru my head was "****, i bet i spit a plug."
long story short, a friend of a friend of a friend got me parts from a dealer (on the holiday, friday), and was able to fix it on my lot, a new plug and coil and it's been just fine for almost 2 weeks now.

I can't imagine the pressure it would take to blow that thing out. A threaded part. especially a critical element as a spark plug.
OK, I'll guess that the thing was never really torqued down and it 'wiggled' out over time enough to where just a thread or two was holding it in place?
this is either wishful thinking or a serious design flaw.

It takes about two hours, a $150 kit, bearing grease, a new COP ($40), spark plug and very little mechanical know-how to fix a blown plug.
It's also about the only problem the modular platform has ever been plagued by. How many problems can you count that diesels have had or are having now? I guarantee you need more than both your hands to count them.
Have fun spending your "budget" on your diesel when the time comes.
A 6L long block is 5K now. The 7.3L.......$7K. A V10 long block is under $3k.

I blew out 3 spark plugs and had 3 coil pack failures on my '01 F150 supercrew in the 3 years that I owned it... When the alternator failed a short time after the last plug blow out and I had to get towed for the second time within a 10 day period, I decided to trade that gasser in for my '06 6.0 Powerstroke. No looking back, that's for sure! (though I did just have to have my turbo gutted and repaired, but it was a warranty repair and it didn't leave me stranded like the old gasser did on occasion)
