OK I'll get strait to the question, Has anyone ever used and aftermarket wire harness like from Painless, or Ron Francis? I have done small sections befor but this truck I just bought (76 F-100 Explorer package) is so chewed up and spliced I can't make head nor tail of whats left and just need to start fresh. I can do it all from scratch but will take a while and I think will end up costing about the same in time. Any help would be appreciated.
I have never heard of Centch but it lookes like I might try it. All the other brand out dont make a harness specific for that truck, so you have to get a universal and splice on your connections. Thanks Buck, im gonna give them a shot.
I'm using an American Autowire Highway 15 kit in my 76. Very good directions. Everything is well marked, including each wire. So far their tech support has been excellent.
The American Autowire Kit is sold by IDIDIT (Steering Column Manufacturer) in their speed shop in Michigan. I believe also sold through Summit Racing and online. Google American Auto Wire.
have used a painless 10117 in a couple of those trucks. You will need to re-use some of the connectors and a factory diagram will be a big help. Not cheap, but a nice piece to work with
Yep, they primarily provide GM stuff, but their Highway kits work for everything. When you go to the site, find the highway kits. I think they are Highway 15 and Highway 18. I'm wiring from scratch, so doesn't really matter except for the links to the steering column. Their tech support provides you with the Ford wiring diagrams at no cost.
