I am not positive here, but I would think you would have some problems with the wire harness. Of course if you knew your wiring diagram, you could make your own wire harness, but you would have to utilize the original plug. I think the stereos also have different mounting hardware. You may need to do a little fabrication to get it to mount properly.

If the plug is the same and the power and grounds are in the same spot I would just plug it in and try it. Then if you get power ,check to make sure you functions work properly. As far as mounting goes if the existing brackets don't fit and the brackets from the old deck don't fit on the new deck ,you may be able to rig up an install kit from a stereo shop or even Walmart.

I'm no expert here but i am working the same deal you are.I pulled my stock cd player out of my 96 Bronco and put it in the hole for the 89 f150.It's a perfect fit.The bronco uses a slide rail on the upper install mount, the same rail is in the f150.The sides just snap into the stock hole.Next, the wiring,ok just went out and recounted the wires on the 150,5 wires on the power plug,4 wires on the speaker plug.Ok if you dont have the plug ends for the 96 bronco cd player,i think Autozone has these. But i still dont know what wire goes to what plug exactly. Now the bronco wiring has 6 wires on power, and a funky looking plug for the speakers.I's a large single cable that looks like an antenne cable,no it still has the very normal cable for the ant.Ok,were not there yet, theres a little matter of,some of these am/fm stereo cd players have a power amp.I'm going to research this further at ford. The stock# on my 96 cd player is.F5TF-18C815-AA. I hope this helped a little.

If one doesn't pop up here I'd scour eBay--there are usually quite a few stock OEM take outs to be had there.
