Always wondered what that space was for

I always wondered what this space in the dash was for shown in the photo. So I looked in my owners manual and it stated that it was reserved for an after market TW 4 or 6 position chip

Installed my Tony Wildman chip last night and I took it for a test drive. It really makes a big difference on how it behaves. This and the c00nhunterjoe tranny mod are the best things I've done for my truck.

Another example of Ford's excellent forethought.

FWIW, that space was actually used in the F-150 and bronco's for the push button 4wd. and the space used for our warning lamps was left blank. Looking back it seems foolish to have them seperate but it does make a very handy spot of gadgets!

I just got my TW, my cord isn't that long. Did you add some length to yours?

My cord just barely reaches that spot. I can't remove the dash without undoing the nut on the switch first. It's not tight but another inch to the right and it would not have reached.

Someone on this forum said that he had plans to fish his TW Chip Control into the drivers door and install it by the other controls in the door.

I don't know if he did it or not..... but on second thought I believe that he said that he was thankful that the wires were color coded indicating that he had cut the wire and then spliced it back.

Does anyone know who I'm talking about and if it was a success?

Well I know someone who has done it that way but I don't think he posts on this board though. I know him from TDS and PSN. He goes by ThreeStarJr and here is one of his pictures.
