TPS reset

I have a 2000 PSD 7.3l that has been experiencing throttle hesitations and occasional surges when accelerating or just cruising. The other day I had a major hesitation (thought the truck died), then when it did fire, it started stuttering and the ses light came on. It never died but ran rough on and off. I had a friend hook up his OBD and it showed TPS was the culprit. I have 2 questions...1. Can the TPS be reset somehow, ie: unhooking the battery and pumping the pedal a few times? 2. Is there anything I need to know when I replace the TPS or do I just remove the old pedal and install the new?

Many thanks.
