OK guys...I have a '99 Ranger. Is the space for the CD player DIN-and-a-half or Double-DIN?

I'm asking because there are some sweet aftermarket stereos for sale here, but I don't know what size to get to fill up all the space without it looking dumb.

 

Crutchfield has all that info.

 

DIN and a half but just get a DIN and the install kit it will fill the space did it in my 96 Ranger Alpine deck is hard to beat.

 

I've been told be the guys at the stereo shops that 1.5 DIN will not fit Ford openings. I just bought a '99 F150 SC and was wanting the 1.5 DIN Pioneer w/Pioneer 6x8 & bazooka.
Been told at 2 different places the Fords opening is 1/8 inch taller than GM/DC 1.5 and 1/8 inch shorter than Double DIN.
Is this true?
And why would Ford go half *** between the two?

 

I am running a double din Alpine 3DA-W882 in mine. It's a couple years old, but a great unit.

I had to do a little filing on the opening, but it fit with really no problem. Then I just made a faceplate to go around the radio. I used the white clip off the factory radio and use the rail inside the dash as support. Rarely skips also...
