Hi All,

I am planning on swapping out my 300 I-6 for a 351W in my '83 F-100. Where can I get all of the motor brackets and such? I have to put everything in stock just like it would have been in '83... smog and all... since i live in a restrictive county (Harris County, TX).

Also, I assume I need to change the frame side of the motor mounts right?

Darren,
The best thing to do is go to a local junk yard and get all the parts you need, or even buy the whole truck and after you have used all the parts off of the donor truck you need, sell it back to another junk yard. Sometime you can make a litte money by selling the truck to another junk yard.

 

The perches that the 300 sits on will need to be unbolted from the front cross member. You can still buy a set of motor mounts for the V-8 from your local Ford Dealer for around $70 each. These mounts attach to the rear of your cross member. On the driver's side, you will find a set of rivets on the cross member on the driver's side and your motor mount will butt against these. You either need to increase the diameter of your mount to let the rivet slip through, or, better yet, drill out the rivets and replace them with grade 8 bolts.
