Edge Programmer???

Yea I know, that's the part I struggled with before ordering my spartan setup, but I truly believe you get what you pay for. With spartan, they actually take your stock engine and transmission codes from your truck and make "custom tunes". It's not just a generic "one size fits all" type of programmer. And the dashdaq screen that comes with it is a phenomonal piece of equipment that you can do so much with. I was as skeptical as anyone could be when I ordered it but I haven't once regreted it yet. And my mpg's have went from 12.5mpg to 16.5mpg, hand calculated, and are still going up. With that kind of increase the setup pays for itself in no time, and I truly believe it's better for the truck, it just seems to run and respond so much better and with little effort. As far as the government thing, it wouldn't surprise me one bit that big brother doesn't like what they do, hell, I can't even go to a bar and have a ciggarette becauseof them! But I guarantee it's because of the EPA stuff, not any product issues.

yea I did the dpf and cat delete. I've been running my truck on the highest tune, the 275. The only time I turn it down is when I know I'm going to be towing something, so I'll switch to the 150 tune. They say the higher hp tunes get the best mileage so that's what I've been running. You can't change the tunes on the fly like with some programmers, but it's really not a big deal, it only takes 15 minutes to load a tune. I purchased the spartan for better mpg's and to delete the dpf so it would sound like I was actually driving a diesel, the extra power was not a concern for me, but it is impressive.

I actually purchased a 4 inch dual exhaust when I first bought the truck, but it didn't do anything as far as mpg's or performance. So when I got the spartan I just got the dpf/cat delete pipes since I already had the exhaust on. As far as taking it back for service; It was such a pain in the a## to get the delete pipes in, that it's not something I want to do very often. It is completely "bolt on" so the stock could be put back on, but I only plan on doing that if I have a major problem, no more dealer oil changes. Oh well, they overcharge for them anyway.
