no throttle response

I have a 2000 PSD F250 and this morning I was pulling into a local grocery store and when I pushed on the throttle the service engine soon light came on and there was no throttle response. The truck will run and will move forward while in gear at an idle but when pushing the throttle there is no response. I have been told that the throttle control sensor is bad. What I am needing to know is that a stealership item or can a guy get it at a local parts shop. Also is there another sensor under the hood or is there just the one on the throttle pedal. Thanks for the information and all the help you guys have given me.

Is anything else not working? Looking at a fuse diagram, not sure what year it is, but it shows fuse #28 to control the sensor. I would check that fuse or if you have your owners manual you could find which fuse it is there. I will look at mine if no one corrects me on this.

It showing the fuses being under the dash.

Good luck.

It should be a 10 amp fuse. I have blown a couple in the last couple of months. I too forget which one it is but just start pulling the fuses and change the one that is blown. i have a short somewhere and I need to tract it down. I think mine is in the overhead console.

Everything works right and the truck runs well but there is no response to the throttle and the service engine soon light comes on only when I push the throttle down. After letting off of the throttle the light goes. I looked for a fuse and found what I thought to be the right one but I believe the number was 19 dont know if I was reading it right or not. If that was the right one it was not blown.

If all else is good you may have to change the assembly. I don't think you can just change the sensor, but I am not sure. There are some that has done this that will see this and let you know what they did.

Good luck.

I think it is dealer only and there are a couple of different versions, depending on the year of production.

I just looked at dieselsite.com, throttle position sensor is $120 from Bob. 2000 year model uses a 2-plug assembly. I'm also pretty sure, having been through this before, that fuse #19 is not your problem. I had no gauges, no SEL when I found that fuse blown. Good luck, hope this helps.

I got the sensor only from O'Reilleys for about $50. It is a Dorman part # 699-201.
