Recommended Cold Air Intake Ford F350 2003 6.0L

I have a stock F350 2003 6.0L and am looking to do some limited mods. I was told the two recommended things to do is 4" Exhaust and cold air intake. Anyone have any thoughts on which cold air intake; K&N, Airaid, etc? Is this worth the investment?

You'll find most guys here will tell you to keep the air intake stock. It'll flow enough air for up to 500hp.

The zoodad modification basically is a cold air intake and costs vertually zero. I did mine in 20 mins. covered the hole with aluminum splint material from a first aid kit to keep junk out woked for me.

I was planning on tring to get over 500 Hp...

What do you all think would be a good intake for that?

Currently I'm at 500hp at the crank and 400hp at the wheel.. (so I'm told) havent dynoed yet or anything. Can't find one big enough.

O, and mines the same truck basically. (6.0 diesel, Kingranch, dually, f-350, crew)

I'd keep the stock filter until the flow guage tells you its not flowing enough air. Your turbo will thank you for the cleaner air

Don't waste your money on an air filter setup!! Get out your dremel tool and create a cold air kit yourself for free! Do the zoo-dad mod and you will be as good as any cold air intake! Some things you just cannot improve on with mods!! It might look better but that's all! I'll take donations if you just wanna give away $250 bucks!!

afe stage 2 with any of their air filter, s&b, or airaid. I've run aftermarket for over 40k and my intake side fins are just fine. don't be worried.

If you are going to run one, run one of the three he mentioned^^^. Do not use a K&N.

Run an AFE and a Dry Element filter, if you absoutely have to do an air kit! If you have any engine issues though make sure and pull it off and install the stocker cuz Ford will use it against you if you have intake or turbo issues!

People cut a hole in the header panel in front of the intake to give it more cool air. I think this is completely unnecessary since if you look closely there is a channel in the header panel to funnel cool air from below. Any performance increase would be negligible and leaves more chance of getting a lot of moisture in your filter.

On mine with the stock bumper gone, air hits below the header panel and is practically forced up this channel so cutting a hole in the front won't give much if any benefit.

Sound like it is a waste for the Air Filter mod, but what about the 4" exhaust?

Just put on an MBRP system on Saturday, and it is by far the nicest fitting aftermarket system I've ever seen. Mounts up identical to the OEM exhaust system. Most here will recommend this system over any other.

I just went with the cat back system, but most guys around here seem to go turbo back. I went with the cat back system because I wanted to cool my EGT's a bit, but I didn't want it to be any louder than stock (which is the reason I kept the kitty)... I'm very pleased with the results. It's not any louder than stock, but it's a much deeper, throatier growl under acceleration. Also, there's ZERO irritating drone from this system on the freeway.

An interesting and unexpected side benefit is that I had a resonance in the engine compartment at around 2k rpms (when cruising at about 68 mph) that Ford kept telling me was "normal." Well, after putting this more free flowing exhaust system on, that resonance is completely GONE.

I'm very happy with the MBRP! I'll have to take some pics when the rain stops... I went with the 6" dual-walled angled tip, and I must say for my tastes it looks pretty incredible!
