Fords being restored and a Micke Grove photo
Last night I was at my auto body class and was the last to show up to a nearly packed garage. For the first time, the largest number of vehicles were FOMOCO or Ford inspired. I started talking with the owner of the Ford Torino. He has an '80 something 5.0 in it. It sounds great, but he is underwhelmed by the power (he had it tested, 165 at the wheels).
I then chatted with the the Cobra kit car owner and made two sad discoveries. The first was when I tried to get in it (with owner's permission of course). I pushed the seat all the way back. I tried getting in and once I got all my body in there, my right knee was stuck up in the dash and my left leg was trying to push a hole through the door. I could barely push the clutch and could not hit the brake or gas peddle. That was a sad moment to realize that I am too big for that car. As I was getting out I noticed a sticker on his dash in front of the passenger side saying "Warning- Supercharged. Hold on for your life."
I asked the owner what he had in it. Second sad discovery, "I have a small block Chevy with a supercharger on it." I tried to hide my sadness. Normally, I don't care too much about these cross company swap, but putting a SBC in a Cobra? What would they think if I took a classic Stingray and put a 5.0 in it? To this guy's credit, he wasn't the one who put the engine in there. He bought the car a month ago and hasn't really done anything to it yet.
The last photo is the only pic I got from the Micke Grove meet. Thank goodness Dan wasn't in it. He took his shirt off again and was running around.
Here are the pics.
