I don't know why the search feature isn't working right now...

My friend has a 97 with a worn out turbo, he has a turbo off of an 02 7.3, what would it take to retrofit it onto his 97?

 

Alot. The turbos have different size pipe connections

 

On the turbine side? Inlet? Conpressor side? Turbo pedistal? etc...?

 

The SD turbo is a downgrade if going stock for stock also to make a 99-03 turbo work in our trucks you need turbo, up-pipes, exhaust collector, pedestal, down pipe, and some how you have to adapt the y-pipe or add an inter cooler and adapt the intake plenum.

if he's planning to do mods later (most specifically fuel add-ons) there are a few HX50's on ebay. need fuel to spool though!
I saw that after reading tim's post somewhere else about his HX50 for 165 bucks on ebay... I'll definately keep that in mind!

Yeah I looked too. only HX50's are the dude in China! Stay away from him!!
