I put a Jasper rebuilt 302 in my 84 Econoline 150 van. I had numerous leaking problems. Intake manifold gasket leaked, front timing cover leaked oil after about 5,000 miles. Yet the engine ran strong. The 302 in my 84 F150 pickup I just rebuilt myself and I am much happier. I havent heard much good about Jasper yet nothing majorly terrable. Id rather buy another jasper engine than one from Autozone. Also, NAPA sells FOUR STAR engines which I heard are pretty good. I worked at a NAPA store in Indiana for a couple months and havent seen major problems with them.
I put a 460 in from Jasper. No problems at all, but they are a bit pricey considering they use rebuilt lifters and oil pumps etc.
I wasn't told this at time of purchase, I would have gone with someone else considering the luck I have with anything "rebuilt".
