'97 460 timing advance suggestions

hey guys, im new to the forum and recently just bought a 97 f250 w/ a 460. Im curious about how much initial timing you guys are getting away with on both 87 and 93 octain. thanks for the help

Initial Timing on '97 460

me too. I just need a little more power, until i get that and then I'll need a little more.

On my 96' f250 with a 460 I took it from 10 deg up to 12deg on 87oct and the throttle respose was much better. I can't tell you hp numbers (butt) hp feels like a solid 10 hp. if you run higher oct you and go 12-15 deg base timing.
