OBDII Codes on 96 f150

OBDII Codes on 96 f150
HI all,
I have a 96 F150 that I cannot get the codes out of. The OBDII port seems tobe dead. I have changed my radio and have been told that the OBDII wiring is part of the radio wiring in the 95-96 trucks.
Do I need to rin 12V to one of the pins on the port to get it to work?
any help would be greatly appreciated.
