Anyone know if you need to reprogram a factory navagation unit if it is being installed in a F-150 that didn't have one from the factory(2005 FX4),and if so what is the reason-is it just to enable the steering wheel controls?the new ford HU was never used.

 

plug the new nav unit in if it does not work it needs to be programed. If the nav was from any other ford car even a newer f150 it will need to be programed. I had mine done at ARC cost is about 100.00 dollars.. about the same at the dealer. Jason

 

Jason how did your navigation work after ARC programmed it? I will be sending a unit for programming next week to ARC for my 2005 supercrew just wanted to be sure it will work. thank Bill

 

The nav works great. They are bunch of good guys over at arc and are about 20 min. from my house. Jason
