460 build
i want about 375-450hp from my 460 while still being able to run pump gas. would this be feasable if i ran some SCJ heads, a cam, a pre-71 timing kit, a high-rise intake, some long tube hedders and holley 750? i need to be able to run pump gas because this will be my daily driver/show truck.

Older iron heads,C8 or D0, or SCJ's need a 22 CC dish piston to be on the EDGE of pump gas and require premium gas, close to 10.5 compression. The earlier blocks had a shorter deck with pistons barely in the hole and good quench. For a daily driver deal you need to keep compression in the low 10's to 1 to keep it practical at all..The SCJ heads will help with possible detonation problems but big power is easy to make with about any head available. Been told to stay away from the cheap aluminum heads on e Bay but have never actually had a set. You never said what motor you're starting with...Hey,I'm running 3 460's right now,a 521,700hp,a 466 at 500+hp both with SCJ's,and a 466 with ported C8 heads, All have 22cc dish pistons.Sure,I could get more power with flat tops but would be buying a lot of race fuel at over 12 to 1.

do you think this kit would be good for my application? https://www.summitracing.com/parts/edl-2045 im pretty much just wanting to do the top end and all the gaskets/seals and thats about it.

For a DD that cam is too radical.
Look at the lunati voodoo, like this one

get compression up, headers. Youve got about 30-40 hp on the table from simple budget porting the heads
What year is your 460?
