1990 F250 460 - horsepower and torque info request
We have a 1990 F250 Supercab Long Bed. It's not a primary vehicle (we have 2 drivers and 4 vehicles) so it's only got about 33000 miles.
Anyhow, it's got the 460 V8, and I was wondering what the HP and torque ratings are for it. The truck is XLT Lariat with automatic overdrive transmission.
I'm not even sure it gets double-digit MPG, is there anyway to 'inexpensively' boost the MPG?
Love the beast, it never gets hot and will do anything you want it to at any speed, it just sits there at 2200 rpm. But it's a gas guzzler and with the gas prices, even though we don't use it much it's still a pain.
Thanks.

I don't recall the torque number from the factory but the horsepower was around 245 ponies.
As for mileage you can go with a cat back exhaust system from Borla or Gibson. Since the stock exhaust system is very restrictive which might give you 1 or 2 MPG on the highway and free up a few more ponies. Borla also makes SS headers for your truck but there are very expensive ($$$$$$). And also a K&N air filter and removal of the silencers in the air intake pipeing just before the TB. Will free up the air intake system to let the engine breath deep. You can all so advance the engine timeing 5 degrees from the factory setting. if the engine starts to spark knock under load back off the timing 2 degrees.
Or you can go the realy cheep way for mileage Keep Your Foot Out Of It.
