I have a 96 windstar and have OBD2 codes P1408 and P1464. I,ve changed the injectors, changed the EGR , coil pack, cleaned intake manifold, checked all vacume lines and no leaks . I do have water in the oil , and am losing antifreeze but no leaks that I can see . It starts fine and runs fine for about 30 minutes then tries to die. Check engine flashes(is always on). Shut down and restart and runs as if nothing happened. Will continue like this until it can be shut down for at least a half hour. I thought I had it narrowed down to the PCM , that is until I saw a thread on this site with the same symtoms except no codes. they said it was a bad intake gasket. I've heard al kinds of stories about the head gaskets, 140.000 miles. any suggestions would be a big help, Thanks
if its got a 3.8 you probably got a blown head gasket thats where your anti freeze is going . they are / were JUNK motors . had a couple of 'em { the wife } and i'll never own anything ever again with that engine in it even if it is free . the last one kept flashing a couple of codes as it ran fine till it warmed up then went to hades , and overheated . throw it away and get something else . thats my .02 cents worth .

I just replied to someone else, bas12441, on a similar problem. I do not want to repeat the process but it was my intake. Running good now. Check it out.
