What is wrong with this 7.3 PSD?

<TABLE><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top width="100%">My buddies kid brother drove their work truck into a pond. It is a 95 PSD, reg cab, short bed. They dried it out, and changed all filters and fluids, but it has a problem now. The truck will not accelerate. Anyone know what it could be?

like it idles no matter what. Just the front half, so about a foot and a half or two feet up into the cab.

Sounds like the pedal position sensor has died.

So no water in the fuel tank?
CEL or flashing OD lamp?
Possible it just not shifting?
Is it an auto. If so pull both connectors off the trans and clean them out.

It could be in failsafe lockout.

Try and flushout the trans connectors.
Also remove the throttle assembly. Do the same.
Flush out with electrical contact cleaner.

On a wag i would say the idle val switch has water in it and causing a failsafe lockout. (motor only idles).

What is the idle val switch, and where can I find it?

On your "gas pedal" aka TPS when you press on the gas there is a button that should pop out as you press the pedal, this button tells the truck (no matter what voltage is coming from the TPS) that the truck should be at idle rpm. ensure this button pops out when you press the gas pedal, if it does, the water may be causing the connection to remain, or the TPS to not send voltage. Good luck. I would try running a blow dryer on the electrical part of the TPS. Also be ready to turn the truck off if the idle validation switch releases but the TPS but the TPS is sending max voltage because it is still wet, could concievably cause run away engine RPM (small chance but you never know)

You reallly can't run away with electronic diesels. The computer (assuming it isn't screwed up) should just hold the truck near/at redline. Which is not as big of a deal as say on a mechanical one, where it would just keep revving untill it oculdn't go any higher

I'm trying to help my buddy find these parts, but we cannot find anything under Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor, or Idle Validation Switch. Does anyone know what their part numbers are? No one at Autozone or Napa knew what they were. One guy at Autozone said someone was in looking for the same thing a month ago, but he had never heard of it. I know we know what we are talking about, but I cannot find them.

http://catalog.powerstrokeshop.com/p...&subcat2=86776

this is one of the cheapest places to get it. Also check ebay cause they do go cheaper on there as well. Also check junk yards.

So what else could it be if replaceing APP and Idle Validation Switch didn't fix it?
