Modified Mod
I just luv this forum. TJ installed a power plug in his bumper and hooked his block heater to it. Fordman came along and did the same mod but he added a small Float Charger to come on while he is heating his engine. Both great Ideas.
I really liked them both but I didn't want the battery charger hooked into the block heater so..............I modified both of your mods.
I installed the receptical in the bumper as TJ did. I installed an electrical box off of some brackets attached to the driver's battery box. Then I got a double throw single pole switch and mounted it in the metal cover on the box along with a couple of red and green LED lights. The cables from the heater, the charger and the outlet all come into the box and get hooked up to the switch and lights in the lid.
Switch is in the center....everything is off. Flip it towards the firewall and red light comes on along with the block heater. Flip it towards the front, the green light comes on along with the battery charger.
I mounted the charger on top of the large Fuse box with velcro. Lid still lifts up or I can remove it if needed.
Life just don't get any better than this. Thanks to both of you guys, great ideas.
