Horsepower out of a 429
Those engine produced 365 horsepower stock I think. That is gross horsepower, not sae, so that is with no accesories, open exhuast, and tuned components. That is also with leaded gas, and 10.5:1 compression.
Those numbers are easily surpassed by todays modern exhuast, cam, valvetrain and head technology that is offered by the aftermarket. So pick a goal, research it, and stick to it.

I don't know all the tech details to get what you want, but my 71 with Dove C heads computer dyno'd in the 500 range. Bored .030 over, balanced, peformer intake, roller rockers, SS valves, mild cam, super comp headers, smog bump smoothed in the heads.

The 429's were 320 & 360 HP, unless its a CJ/SCJ. 500 HP from a 460 is eally fairly easy. I'm over 700 in the drag car, plus the 350 on the bottle...(got the dyno #'s too). You'd be suprised what you can do with one. I'm doing a twin turbo for the '65 F-100 in a while, should crank an easy 700.

less friction so less heat. Also, Most roller rockers are a true 1.73 ratio, as where the stock ones can vary due to mass production tolerences. You will also probably have to make your valvetrain adjustable to run them. Crane makes a pedistal mount conversion for them. I used that set-up on my 351CJ 71 Torino that I had.

Great! I was thinking of converting my 460, as well as my 71 Torino with 351C 4V. Did it have the guide plates, and necessitate some machining for studs?

Summit sells a Ford Motorsports set of roller rockers with all the components to use with the pedastal setup. Plus it only runs around 280.00. I like the idea of it being ford motorsports product plus I dont think you need to cut the pedastal mounts for studs like some others. I intend on getting these when the wallet allows. If anyone has used these or has input on them let me know.
